Overall Responsibility:
We are looking for an Accountant to join our Dublin based Finance team. The successful candidate will support the Director of Finance and Support Services in all aspects of accounting and financial control and assist in the development of a streamlined approach to the financial management of the Foundation.
Key Responsibilities
Preparation of monthly management accounts and annual financial statements.
Ownership of the Foundation’s cash management process, including debtors and bank account reconciliations.
Ownership of the financial and compliance aspects of Grant funding.
Maintain and develop the current financial reporting system and play a key role in testing all new systems and processes that may be implemented.
Ensure that the financial control environment is implemented effectively.
Responsibility for SORP compliance.
Assist with the preparation of quarterly and annual reporting to the Audit and Risk Committee and Board of Directors.
Assist with the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
Assist with all audit processes and liaison with external auditors.
Assist with all regulatory submissions as required.
Ensure that all financial data is analysed and reported accurately in the CRM database and in the accounting system.
Other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Skills and Experience Required
Qualified accountant with a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a finance function in the charitable sector
Charities SORP Accounting experience is required.
Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite is necessary, in particular Microsoft Excel.
Strong IT and analytical skills, experience with Dimensions (Access) is desirable
Highly organised with attention to detail
Strong Corporate Governance experience an advantage.
Excellent communication skills.
Adaptable and energetic with strong interpersonal skills

Details of Role and Application process
This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday. The role is based in the Irish Heart Foundation’s offices in Rathmines, Dublin. Currently staff are working remotely and the successful candidate will be supported to work remotely initially according to public health guidelines.
