Job duties:
Record day to day financial transactions of the organisation onto the accounting software
Ensure transactions and activities comply with the organisations financial policies and procedures
Pay supplier invoices or due debts in a timely manner
Monitor cash flow of the organisation and report fluctuations to the Executive Director on a monthly basis, or as required
Provide management accounts to the Executive Director on a monthly basis, or as required
Maintain petty cash records
Procurement of supplies as required
Negotiate reasonable discounts with suppliers where possible
Record income as received and make bank deposits
Conduct monthly bank and cash reconciliations
Conduct periodic supplier reconciliations to ensure their accuracy
Compile and maintain the annual budget of the organisation, and activity budgets for donor proposals as they arise
Assist in the periodic revision of the organisational budget
Comply with donor and government reporting requirements
Balance general ledger by preparing a trial balance
Assist in the creation of annual financial statements, and donor financial reports as required
Maintain historical records by filing documentation in an orderly system
Assemble information for external auditors for the annual audit
Maintain the chart of accounts
Process payroll in a timely manner
Provide clerical and administrative support to the Executive Director as requested
Key requirements for the role:
Minimum five years bookkeeping experience, ideally in similar sized not for profit organisation
Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting principles
Knowledge in relevant legislation and regulatory requirements in the Republic of Ireland
Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting transactions and financial records on a software package
Proficiency in English and MS Office applications
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Trustworthy, honest, discreet and professional
Desirable:
Qualification from Accounting Technicians Ireland or other similar recognised business administration/finance institution
