OVERALL PURPOSE & LEVEL
This role is in a charity Nurture’s office in Skerries reporting to the CEO Irene Lowry
The Accounts Officer will be responsible for financial and administrative services in order to ensure effective, efficient and accurate financial and administrative operations. They must be able to work with Sage both on the accounting business and wages which include a small selection of paid staff.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
The person selected will develop and maintain positive professional relationships particularly with working colleagues and respective counsellors working in Nurture community and voluntary organisations and the range of people and organisations with whom s/he is in contact via email, phone, in person etc.
S/he will work in a respectful, co-ordinated and integrated way with colleagues, and in such a way as to encourage the best from, and support the efforts of, others.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
To carry out financial data entry and reconciliation, ensuring accuracy and completeness at all times
All aspects of daily purchase and receipt postings and associated administration
To process and make payments by EFT once authorisation has been made
Processing of supplier invoices and acting as a point of contact for supplier queries
Processing of staff wages / expenses
Reconciliation of the bank accounts
To assist with the month end process
To assist with the annual audit process
To assist in the compilation of grant and other financial reports
Assisting with the management of the nominal ledger and related reconciliations
Co-ordination of monthly staff payroll, calculation of which is outsourced
Any other duties as may reasonably be required from time to time in connection with this position
To actively protect Nurture’s integrity through honesty, sincerity and service.
Knowledge/Experience
This role will suit an experienced accounts officer or executive who has a history of taking ownership of their role in the monthly accounting process and understands the importance of consistently completing their work accurately and on time.
A minimum of 2/3 years’ experience as a Book Keeper using recognised accounting software package Sage being mandatory and excel in the course of your work
Accounts experience in the NGO / charity sector an advantage but not essential

Strong planning, prioritising and interpersonal skills
Able to work to tight deadlines and on occasions, under pressure
Is able to work both on own and as part of a team
Excellent Communication Skills
Strong IT skills with a strong command of Excel, Word and financial software.
CONTRACT PERIOD
On a part time basis – minimum for 3 months can be extended
