Ruhama is a voluntary agency, with over twenty five years’ experience working directly to support women affected by prostitution, including victims of trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation, and lobbying and awareness raising on the issue of prostitution
Ruhama is now recruiting to fill the following position:
Communications and Policy Officer (Ref: POL/COM/OF)
Duration: 1 year (21 hours per week)
Ruhama (www.ruhama.ie) is a Dublin based NGO, supporting women nationally who are affected by Prostitution and Sex trafficking.
Person specification: The Communications and Policy Officer will be responsible for Ruhama’s online media platforms and will assist the Policy and Communications Manager in delivering on Ruhama’s Awareness Raising strategy.
Key Tasks:
Oversee the day to day social media functions of the organisation ensuring communication with relevant stakeholders and raising awareness of Ruhama’s work.
Assist the Policy and Communications Manager in the research and drafting of policy and awareness raising materials and documents.
Work in conjunction with Ruhama staff and volunteers to ensure their work is represented in external communications.
To plan and implement social media strategies in conjunction with the Policy and Communication Manager.
To regularly update the Ruhama website and identify ways in which it can be enhanced to futher support user participation using analytical tools.
Collect and record all aspects of Ruhama’s communications and policy work for reporting purposes.
Assist in organising events and activities that raising awareness regarding the work of Ruhama.
Create and disseminate visually orientated and accessible digital content.
The successful candidate will have
A third level qualification in Communications, Marketing, Media or related field.
A strong interest in Gender based Violence and Human Rights
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong knowledge and understanding of social media platforms and monitoring systems
Experience in website content management, SEO including google analytics, AdWords etc
Experience creating digital media content using programmes such as Photoshop, illustrator, video/audio editing software is desirable
Ability to multi task with excellent attention to detail
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate a core message to a diverse audience.
Highly professional with the ability to deal with difficult subject matter in a sensitive manner
