UCD Foundation engages in fundraising and engagement activity to support University College Dublin in its pursuit of world-class education, teaching, research and innovation.
The Direct Marketing Manager will lead the Individual Giving team working to deliver UCD Foundation’s Individual Giving strategy. This will involve leading all Individual Giving activities, and achieving ambitious annual financial targets that provide the maximum value and Return on Investment to the Foundation.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced, energetic and dynamic individual to join a highly regarded and successful fundraising and alumni relations team.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
Strategy, Planning and Implementation
To develop, lead and manage the Individual Giving strategy for UCD Foundation in collaboration with the Director of Alumni Development to expand UCD’s Individual Giving Programme to achieve ambitious annual targets
Be responsible for the development and implementation of the 2015 Individual Giving operational plans with a key focus on growing the donor base through implementing innovative direct marketing campaigns to recruit, retain and upgrade donors through a variety of mediums
To develop a digital strategy for the individual giving team and work with the wider Alumni development team to see how this can be extended throughout the Foundation
To develop a donor retention policy with specific focus given to donor rescue objectives
To develop and overall manage the in-house year round Campus Phonation Programmes with a team of up to 50 callers
To manage a portfolio of prospects and donors
Data Analytics
Develop a data-led strategic approach to Individual Giving, gaining insights into donor behaviour, and segmenting the database to personalise engagement and achieve optimum results
Record and track attrition specifically relating to Individual Giving – direct debits and cash
Work with the Information Services Manager to complete and implement detailed and relevant profiling and segmentation relating to the donor base to ensure better efficiencies and results of campaigns
Analyse and interpret data for effective planning and implementation and to improve the Rate of Return
Budgetary and Reporting
Manage all costs and expenditure budgets on an on-going basis to ensure annual financial targets are met
Ensure all activity is implemented within budget and within defined cost ratios
Monitor and report on performance against KPI’s to the Director of Alumni Development and the Foundation Board as required.
Stewardship
To monitor and track donors across all Individual Giving programmes and ensuring their stewardship by planning and implementing appropriate communications and events
To develop a pipeline of donors for the Campaign for UCD – Forming Global Minds
Managing Relationships
Work with the wider fundraising team as well as collaborating cross-departmentally within UCD to identify and develop key appeal propositions and materials to help deliver fundraising goals
To manage and monitor all external relationships with agencies and 3rd party suppliers to ensure high quality service delivery and best results are achieved (includes telemarketing agencies, design agencies, mail-houses, web support, designers, copywriters etc.).
Engage with regulatory bodies such as the Data Protection Commission
External
Proactively monitor the external fundraising environment to seek out, develop and successfully implement innovative ideas that contribute to the achievement of the Individual Giving fundraising targets.
SUITABLE CANDIDATES WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING EXPERIENCE AND PROFESSIONAL CHARACTERISTICS:
At least 4 years relevant experience
Holds a third level degree
Proven ability to achieve targets
Proven record of recruiting and training callers/working with volunteers
Exceptional ability to analyse and interpret data
A high degree of computer literacy
Experience of using a large CRM database, preferably Raisers Edge
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, paying great attention to detail
Demonstrable ability to work under pressure and to challenging deadlines
Highly developed organisational and multi-tasking skills
A very high level of energy and enthusiasm
Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required
Good knowledge of the Data Protection (Amendment) Act 2003
