Events / Communications Manager – Orbis Ireland – Dublin

Purpose of Position: Orbis Ireland is a small fundraising office, with two full time employees. Orbis Ireland plans to recruit an Events and Communications Manager to manage the recruitment and organisation of Orbis Ireland’s portfolio of events and assist with a number of fundraising initiatives.

This involves managing the logistics of all events (including recruiting and stewarding participants); raising the awareness of Orbis through effective PR and marketing surrounding our calendar of events and initiatives; and assisting in the development and implementation of a number of fundraising initiatives.

The ideal candidate must be proactive, have a strong ability to work on their own initiative and have a passion to pursue a career in the not-for profit sector and event management.

Main Responsibilities:

Plan and execute Orbis Ireland’s annual events, including promoting all fundraising events to identified target audiences.
Recruit and steward participants for external challenge events such as the Women’s Mini Marathon and international treks.
Assist with the development and implementation of fundraising initiatives directed at corporate and individual donors which aim to maximise profitability.
Work with the Development Director to create new event opportunities in line with the annual business plan and budget.
Assist with the promotion of the Orbis brand and increase visibility through effective PR and marketing activities.

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience of managing events.
Experience of building relationships with individuals and corporate supporters.
Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate others
Strong ability to work with limited staff and therefore work on own initiative
Excellent attention to detail
An appreciation and understanding of the challenges and opportunities presented by working for a small organisation
It is essential that the successful candidate has excellent administration skills with a good knowledge of Microsoft word, outlook and excel.

Qualifications and Experience:

At least two years’ experience in an event management or fundraising role
