The Irish Jesuit Mission Office (IJMO) is the international outreach of the Irish Province of the Society of Jesus. We support Irish Jesuit missionaries and volunteers working in Africa and Asia.
JOB TITLE: PROGRAMME OFFICER
This is a part time role (3 days per week), based at the Irish Jesuit Mission Office in Gardiner Street, Dublin 1.
KEY OBJECTIVES:
Building relationships with strategic partners in African and Asian Jesuit Provinces and Jesuit Refugee Service in Africa.
Securing project funding from institutional funders for Jesuit missions
Management of contracts with institutional donors
Monitoring and evaluation and reporting on projects.
Sharing programme impact and lessons for organisational learning
RESPONSIBLE TO: Director, Irish Jesuit Mission Office
MAIN TASKS
Relationships
Represent the Irish Jesuit Mission Office at relevant meetings, workshops, seminars and policy events, and act as the Liaison person for Misean Cara
Establish and maintain relationships with key contacts in strategic partner organisations, other religious congregations and NGOs
Maintain close harmonious working relationships with colleagues in Jesuit provinces internationally, and within the Irish Jesuit Province
Travel to visit, monitor and evaluate funded projects in Africa / Asia, liaise with Jesuits internationally.
Keep a risk register, and work closely with the Director to manage risk
Fundraising and Management
Identify and track emerging opportunities for institutional funding for the Jesuit Missions and Jesuit partners in Africa and Asia
Contribute to design and development of project proposals initiated by Jesuit provinces internationally
Liaise closely with Development Officers and partners in African and Asian Jesuit provinces to secure funding for their development activities from Misean Cara in a timely manner
Draft technical and financial proposals to secure funding
Ensure programme and project budgets are closely monitored, and are developed appropriately
Manage contracts with institutional funders in cooperation with Missionaries
Manage and coordinate scheduled reporting to meet institutional donor reporting requirements
Work with the Finance Department at the Mission Office, and the financial management systems of partners to ensure financial information is up to date, variances are identified and recommendations for action made
Monitoring, Evaluation and Lesson Learning
Coordinate lesson learning from monitoring and evaluation of the IJMO programme portfolio and support sharing of best practice and policy insights
Develop and manage specifically commissioned and funded monitoring and evaluation initiatives both qualitative and quantitative
Coordinate overall programme portfolio to ensure key performance indicators are met and programme impact is in line with Mission Office strategy
Knowledge Management
Work closely with the Communications team to share information about programme portfolio, specific projects and programme impact on social media, annual reports and other communications
Support sharing of information between the Mission Office and African / Asian Jesuit Provinces
Contribute to strategic planning
Liaise with the Advisory Board of the IJMO, ensuring that the Board has up to date knowledge and understanding of the progress of the development programme, funding opportunities, and relationship with Misean Cara and risk.

Post graduate qualification in international development or related subject E
