After-school Project Worker – Dundalk – Respond

Job Purpose:
To deliver an after-school programme for children and young people attending Edmund Rice Junior and Senior Schools. This will involve the implementation of a range of needs-led educational and recreational programmes in line with Better Outcomes Brighter Futures (The national policy framework for children and young people 2014-2020).

Core Duties & Responsibilities:
To work in accordance with the values, principles and philosophy of Respond Support and Edmund Rice School.
To deliver targeted and universal quality after-school programmes that are evidence-informed, needs led and promote better outcomes for all that attend the service.
To operate within the policies and procedures and guidelines as stipulated by Respond Support.
To engage with the young people to ensure that the service design is inclusive and supports any young person with additional needs or vulnerabilities.
To treat the young people with dignity and respect, and work with awareness of group interests, special talents, needs, cultural backgrounds and individual learning styles.
To plan, implement, document, and evaluate all programmes activities and practices to ensure that the services are achieving their goals.
To motivate children to be physically active by implementing a variety of recreational activities.
To work as part of a team, this will involve participating in planning sessions, team meetings, reviews and assisting with the running of the service in a collaborative manner.
Manage the delivery of programmes in compliance with Respond Support’s safeguarding and health and safety standards, including the identification of potential risks and completion of relevant risk assessments.
To be responsible for maintaining the accommodation from which the service is provided.
To work in collaboration with the service manager in ensuring all reasonable measures are maintained to safeguard the health, safety and welfare of the children attending the service.
To work in partnership with parents in ensuring the service meets the needs of all those that attend.
Participate in and avail of training and continuous professional development.
To comply with Respond Support Child Protection and Welfare Policy.
To comply with responsibilities under the Data Protection Acts 1988-2011, Freedom of Information Acts 1999-2014.
To carry out any other duties that maybe assigned by line manager from time to time.

Person Specification:
Professional qualification in Youth Work, Social Care, Early Education or related field.
A minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a community-focused youth work/childcare/family support/school setting.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, possess good leadership and facilitation skills
Aptitude and empathy with children and young people
Good computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft office suite
Report writing and administration skills
Demonstrate a strong teamwork ethic and a capacity to work under own initiative.
Garda Vetting will be required on an ongoing basis.
