Be a Carer in your own Home..
St Michaels House Home Sharing scheme offers Nurses the opportunity to care for and support children and adults with an intellectual disability by providing respite in your home. This role is best suited to individuals working on a part time basis or seeking the opportunity to work from home.
Caring for a person with enhanced needs do require more support. Our host families provide a number of short breaks per month and in recognition of this receive a daily and overnight allowance accompanied by a monthly retainer. Depending on the arrangements and the guests level of ability the allowance and the retainer fee will be paid in the range of €10,500-€16,500 per annum which is exempt from tax. You will also be provided with 24/7 support during your time hosting a guest.
Please see below an overview of one of our guests:
Tom is a wonderful, fun loving and energetic 12 year old boy. Tom loves the outdoors, he loves cars, going for drives and is very sociable. Tom has complex medical needs and is dependent on his carers for all activities of daily living. Tom is non verbal but will let you know his wants or needs through action. If Tom wants to go out he will go and get his coat and if you are not quick
enough he will get yours for you too!!
Tom has been visiting Gerry and Romy Martin and their children on a regular basis since 2015. Tom is very much a loved member of the Martin family. Tom enjoys the local amenities and attending the local church where everyone knows him. Tom has brought so much joy and fun to the Martin’s household.
