Key responsibilities which will include:
Engaging with Dun Laoghaire/Rathdown Travellers young community.
Plan, co-ordinate, facilitate, evaluate programmes and interventions in response to young people’s needs
Identify and seek additional funding opportunities to meet the needs of the programme.
Engage and encourage participation in the design and improvement of the programme.
Liaise and network with other projects/agencies to development the programme.
Engaging with young people and their families within the all programmes.
Advocate on relevant platforms for the young community.
Ensure programme/administration records are recorded and maintained in accordance to HSE and Southside Travellers guidelines
Facilitate, support and record team meetings as required.
Adhere to all Child Protection, Health & Safety Policies and any other policies as set out by Southside Travellers Action Group and the National youth council.
Participate in relevant training as identified.
Carry out any reasonable duties as requested by Organisation Director.
Candidates must have:
A minimum qualification of QQI Level 5 Award in Youth Work or Higher Certificate or equivalent qualification in related areas.
A minimum of 3 years’ relevant supervisory experience of working with young people at risk
An understanding of issues facing young people in the Traveller Community is essential.
The successful candidate should be highly motivated, energetic and work on one’s own initiative.
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
A proven capacity to work with challenging children and young people, their families and communities.
An understanding of the principles of community development and social inclusion
In addition, the successful candidate should display and have:
Flexibility and adapt to what is often a changing set of “goal posts” in response to the particular needs of particular young people
Strong communication skills
Good motivational skills
Strong facilitation skills
Exceptional organisational skills
Desirable
Full driving licence
Own transport
