CHO8 MLM, Midlands Louth Meath Mental Health Services is a service that covers six counties Laois/Offaly, Longford/Westmeath and Louth/Meath. These services are working towards developing a strong recovery oriented practice approach to service delivery and service user engagement. The service is largely comprised of Community Mental Health Teams (CMHT) that aim to offer support to people and their supporters in their own home and approved centres that provide inpatient services. CHO MLM is working towards implementing the principles outlined in the HSE National Framework for Recovery Mental Health (2018-2020).
CHO MLM is partnering with Mental Health Ireland to continue to develop, deliver and embed recovery education in the services, with particular focus on the midland counties and specifically the Longford/Westmeath catchment area. We are looking for client focused, flexible, friendly, and adaptable person to join our team.
HSE CHO8 MLM in collaboration with Mental Health Ireland, is recruiting a Community Integration Worker who will be based in the Longford/Westmeath Mental Health Serivces and assist services in achieving targets set out in the HSE National Framework for Recovery Mental Health (2018-2020).
The role
of a Community Integration Worker is to give people a chance to explore opportunities in their local area and how they might become involved with more people, groups and activities. The Community Integration Worker will work with individuals to explore how to become more involved with other people and their community, and who will support them to take steps towards achieving this aim.
To support participants in meeting other people and feeling part of their community, Community
Integration Worker will provide support in three main ways:
Reviewing each participant’s existing social network, the people they like seeing, activities they enjoy and the places they go.
Supporting people to develop and use an action plan to increase connectedness. This will be person-centred and include: providing information about available activities and sources of support locally; practical help to access activity including help with phone calls or application forms; emotional support to overcome barriers; support linking people in to available self-management; and helping people to develop appropriate skills.
Liaising with community, voluntary sector and statutory sectors to sign post and navigate people with lived experience of mental health challenges to appropriate supports and services.
Applicants will have a strong and demonstrable commitment to recovery informed by lived or family member mental health experience and 2 years experience working in a relevant field. The successful
candidate must demonstrate:
A track record and demonstrable competence in the support and development of projects and new initiatives that promote positive mental health.
Experience of Group facilitation and/or similar engagement process with adult learners, service users and family members as relevant to this role.
A track record and demonstrable competence in the support and development of projects and new initiatives that promote positive mental health.
Experience of working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders as relevant to this role.
A passion for recovery, with the ability to work in a constantly changing environment with a problem solving attitude.
