Applications are invited for the position of Course Assistant in the Law Society of Ireland’s Education Department. This appointment will be to support the secretarial and administrative needs of a Course Manager on the Professional Practice Courses (PPC I & II). This positon is for a four or five day week.
This position requires a candidate with considerable secretarial and administrative skills. Experience in a third level or professional training/legal education sector is preferred.
Main duties and key responsibilities
The successful candidate will carry out the following duties in line with the Society’s standards and strategic objectives:
Planning and day to day administration relating to the PPC and other courses and events run by the Course
Manager including:
Assisting with recruitment and running of courses;
Preparing and processing course materials, including eBooks;
Liaising with trainee and qualified solicitors, lecturers and tutors;
Administration of Moodle and iTunes U courses; and
Processing payments for course contributors;
Administration of skills exam;
Ad hoc projects as they arise.
Knowledge and skills
Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high attention to detail;
An ability to work on his/her own initiative and as part of a team and be proactive in achieving project outcomes;
Diplomatic and professional communication skills;
Excellent IT skills;
Proficiency with Microsoft Office essential;
Experience with data management systems and learning management systems (e.g. Moodle) desirable;
Familiarity with the use of iPads, iBooks author and iTunes U an advantage but not essential as full training will be given;
A flexible and enthusiastic approach to work;
Ability to work to tight deadlines.
Remuneration and benefits
Salary between €32,000 and €35,000 (DOE);
