Job Purpose & Role:
Manage the Day to Day coordination of the day service in line with New Directions, implement meaningful community access. Coordination of onsite therapeutic workshops. Manage schedules in line with individual plans. Actively engage in social and community inclusion for the adults within a day service capacity. The role requires working from a person-centred approach whilst working wihtin the Camphill Ethos and Values.
Type of Contract: Permanent (subject to successful probation period.)
Number of Hours: 40- Hours per week. Normal working hours are Monday to Friday 9-5
Essential Qualifications and Experience.
A qualification at degree level in social care, social work, youth work, teaching or nursing or a relative comparable discipline.
A minimum of 3 years’ experience post qualification in working directly with adults within a disability service.
Commitment to team working and working within a multi-disciplinary team.
Ability to lead planned multidisciplinary workshops/activities within a team to deliver projects within agreed deadlines and timeframes.
A working knowledge of health and Safety policies and regulations
A working knowledge of HIQA standards and requirements
A working knowledge of New Directions,
Experience in carrying out formal supervisions with employees.
Must be able to demonstrate sufficient evidence of Leadership, communication, interpersonal, organisational, and decision-making skills.
Wholehearted commitment to the principle of achieving agreed results within timeframes and budgets to ensure a healthy and safe environment for residents, staff, co-workers, and visitors.
An understanding of volunteers in terms of training requirements/ recruitment.
Must possess appropriate IT skills, e.g. proficiency in word, Excel, SharePoint.
Evidence of providing supervision and adhering to line management structures.
Effective time management skills.
Full drivers licence required.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
To assist the Person in charge in the day-to-day management of the day service, in line with New Directions, ensuring a person-centred approach is at the core of all
To ensure continuity and consistency of services for people we support by facilitating communication and working relationships between the day, residential, and family where applicable.
Escalate issues of importance to staff in residential services where necessary.
To support the team to work within the ‘New Directions’ framework
To deliver programmes or aspects of programmes to people we support
In line with agreed timetables and schedules. Ensure that these programmes are reviewed and adjusted as needs evolve and/or on a regular basis and ensure that auditable records are maintained
To lead and motivate the staff team to deliver the best possible service to the people we support
To oversee the provision of transport for residents and day attendees as appropriate
Arranging timetables and schedules so as to ensure appropriate cover for all workshops/activities.
Arranging workshop master meetings, taking minutes of these meetings and reporting back issues from the meetings for resolution to the Management group, the Welfare group or the Forum
Arranging and leading the residents Forum every Tuesday, taking minutes of these meetings and reporting back issues from the meetings for resolution to the Management group, the Welfare group or the Forum
Regular supervision with co-workers and staff relevant to workshops and activities
Arranging and scheduling timetables and social care cover for external events/activities/lunch cover during the day time
Responsible for linking in with relevant services to provide outreach programmes and placements for People with Special Needs in line with their personal care plans, aspirations and capabilities
Ensuring the upkeep of day care notes in the workshops/activities, and relevant information, ie. BSP’s, Intimate care Plans, Protocols are available to all workshop masters and facilitators
In conjunction with the person-In-Charge, to ensure healthy communications between employees, co-workers, students and residents
Ensure appropriate maintenance of all other Workshop files and records.
Assist the Person-In-Charge in the preparation and delivery of induction of workshops for new co-workers and employees. From time-to-time you may be required to deliver and run such inductions.
Ensure that workshops/and activities are always staffed and facilitated appropriately, and that workshop scheduling is covered in your absence.
This job description is not exhaustive and there may be times you will be required to undertake other duties in order to meet the needs of other individuals within Camphill Community Dunshane.
To undertake other reasonable comparable duties as requested by the management group.
