What does the Homemaker service do?
Limerick City Homemaker Family Support Service which is currently running 3 years is a home based family support service that emphasises working with parents in a practical way to support them in their parenting capacity and household routines. It is an early intervention; outcomes focused Programme that works with families with additional needs (Levels 2-3 on the Hardiker Model).
The Homemaker Family Support Service provides practical, home-based support (such as helping the family to get ready for school, prepare meals, manage the household, etc.) to families that are struggling to cope with the demands of daily life for a range of reasons.
It is a flexible service that works with families at key periods during the day such as mornings/getting ready for school and evenings (family meals, homework, and bedtime), or at other times identified in partnership with the family.
Experience Required
Experience of working with children and families for a minimum of 2 years is essential.
(work experience means paid employment, not training courses/student placements)
Relevant voluntary work may be considered
Qualifications Required
FETAC Level 5 in working with children is essential.
Access to and the use of a car is essential.
