Family Worker – Youth New Ross

ROLE : To develop and implement programmes that respond to the needs of children and families in South Wexford. Working as part of a team this post focuses on providing or finding specific targeted supports to vulnerable children and families in line with our one year plan.

CHILD PROTECTION : A full Garda Vetting is mandatory. To be vigilant and adhere to all procedures concerning the protection and welfare of children at all times following the Children First National Guidance 2011 and other relevant documents.

The successful applicant(s) will have the following essential requirements;

Ability to demonstrate experience of working with vulnerable children and families within a community setting.
A recognised qualification together with at least 2 years experience in working with the target group is essential.
An understanding of the issues affecting families living in disadvantaged communities
Knowledge and understanding of policy context of family support work
Experience of adhering to guidelines and policies and procedures
Experience of working within a team
The ability to work with groups of children, teenagers and adults
The ability to motivate and support children and families to engage
Communication skills / verbal and written
Ability to work flexibly and work evenings and Saturdays on a regular and occasional basis
Excellent understanding of good practice in working with children & families
Planning, monitoring and evaluating skills
