Head of Communications and Stakeholder Relations – Business in the Community Ireland – Dublin

Core Responsibilities
Communicating our messages and promoting our organisation
Develop and implement an annual action plan and KPIs for the team, aligned with strategic objectives
Further develop our brand identity, key messages and tone of voice
Identify key audiences across business, industry associations, Government and other stakeholders
Engage media; develop connections with editors, correspondents/reporters and influencers on key issues
Advice on communications crisis management, ensuring protocols are developed and key staff trained
Represent the organisation externally at key forums, develop content through articles, op-eds and thought leadership pieces
Engage with external stakeholders to develop partnerships for impact
Enhance our digital strategy across website, social media channels, collective campaigns, newsletters
Facilitate the development of thought leadership and research across the organisation
Oversee the implementation of our annual calendar of external events
Support teams in publications and external communications and ensure design coherence
Safeguard our brand; ensure quality and consistency in external and internal communications.
Government engagement and stakeholder relations
Identify key influencers and stakeholders across government, agencies and other organisations
Develop an annual plan linked to strategic objectives, including advocacy, funding sustainability and visibility of BITCI as an agent of change on ESG and sustainability
Engage in meetings, policy submissions/briefings and other relevant activities as needed.
Attract new member companies aligned with our vision and intent on change
Finalise, consult and launch our new set of membership engagement and intent criteria
Oversee the campaigns and initiatives to attract new members to the organisation
Participate in member recruitment events, meetings, proposals and follow-up actions
Ensure a customer-centred journey of engagement for member companies, from onboarding to retention.
Lead the team and an integral part of the Senior Team and cross-organisation communications
Lead the team, working across digital, events, recruitment and storytelling
Ensure the team has a strong learning and development plan and that it is implemented
Nurture innovation and autonomy across the team
Develop and manage an operations budget for external supports, ensuring value for money and alignment with our procurement guidelines
As a member of the Senior Team, engage in regular meetings and updates; participate in strategy development and ongoing change management. Key cross-functional priorities in 2022 include an organisational structure review, hybrid workplace implementation and IT transformation.
Attend Board meetings and provide presentations and updates as required
Support the CEO and HR Manager on internal communications including monthly all-staff meetings, bi-annual staff days, regular updates
Support the internal communications element of our SharePoint communications site.

Experience, Qualifications and Knowledge:
Solid expertise in communications, media relations/PR, social media, research and advocacy developed through a third level degree, or a similar qualification in a relevant discipline, and/or through relevant experience within industry and/or non-profit/NGOs
Minimum of ten years’ experience of working directly with business, business advisory organisations, media or other organisations, ideally on ESG, sustainability and inclusion
A proven track-record in managing teams with a focus on learning and development and coaching talent
Strong knowledge of the business, media sectors and key influencers in Ireland, with a good network of contacts and relations
Strong understanding of ESG, business sustainability and inclusion
Experience of leading multi-stakeholder dialogue and platforms
Experience in building relationships at senior level with business and government
Experience in brand management
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and SharePoint/OneDrive, Mail chimp and other communications/events software
