Key duties & responsibilities:
The Head of IT and Information Security duties and responsibilities include:
Digital Operations:
Develop and manage a business aligned IT strategy to enable the organisation achieve its strategic goals in a cost effective manner.
Lead the continuous improvement of all of our platforms to provide ‘best in class’ experiences for readers, texters, volunteers and staff through the development and delivery of annual digital platform improvement plans.
Engage with external vendors to implement improvements to existing platforms and lead the successful development of new digital platforms and applications (in collaboration with subject-matter/clinical expertise), and their integration with our existing platforms and services.
Deliver all new and continuous improvement projects using a project management approach and to agreed deadlines.
Information Security:
Ensure the implementation of industry recognised information security standards to safeguard all personal data and ICT services the organisation is responsible for.
Work closely with the Data Protection Officer to ensure the security of personal data and alignment with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation
Ensure appropriate security controls are in place to manage information security risks and ensure compliance with legal, contractual, and regulatory requirements
General:
Provide all staff and volunteers with a unified and seamless remote working experience.
Ensure our digital platforms conform to best practice in accessibility for all users.
Ensure the organisation is collecting and communicating relevant and actionable data insights to theSenior Leadership Team, wider team and board of directors.
Develop and manage budgets within agreed parameters and manage relationships with vendors.
And any other duties or responsibilities as delegated by the Director of People & Operations or CEO.

Skills and Attributes:
Who am I?
Qualifications and Experience:
Whilst a third-level degree in computer science, information technology, information security is required, candidates with equivalent experience will also be considered.Five years of relevant experience in IT and/or information security with proven experience in the delivery of ICT services to the business.
Experience in leading a team
Strong documentation skills to contribute to policies, processes and procedures and for the production of reports, findings and recommendations.
Technical Experience:
Excellent analytical, technical and troubleshooting skills.
An extensive understanding of multiple technical areas of Information Technology and information security including networking, cloud computing, access control, risk management, secure design and development, firewalls, passwords, and cryptography.
A familiarity with web application security vulnerabilities and controls.
A comprehensive understanding of Cloud Service Providers, Cloud Operations and Cloud Computing, and ideally have experience with cloud services such as Google Gsuite, Slack, and project management tools.
Familiarity with security standards and frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, or the CIS Critical Security Controls.
