About the role
Contract Type – Full Time Permanent
Working Hours – 37.5 hours a week
Location – Chester House, Dublin 7 and various locations around city and county.
Salary – 34,000 movinfg to 34,820 after 6 months probation.
This role purpose is to support people who use Dublin Simon Community Services to improve their wellbeing through exercise, nutrition and health promotion.
The successful person in this role will report to the Manager of Client Development, Employability and Enterprise Programmes.

Your responsibilities
To develop and implement an action plan that will promote and embed a culture of a healthy lifestyle throughout the organisation for those who use our services.
To develop and implement a health promotion programme across all Dublin Simon Community services taking into consideration this different cohort of client groups and capabilities.
To develop and facilitate exercise sessions and activities that respond to the needs of those who use our services and upon request by managers of services.
To assist staff across the organisation with the development and facilitation of health and sports programmes ensuring there are structured group activities and individual activities for all clients regardless of ability and fitness.
To work with individuals and groups of clients to enhance their wellbeing through creative ways to include physical and nutritional elements into lifestyle.
Work closely with staff in services to support clients to achieve the health and wellbeing goals set down in their support plan.
To coordinate the QQI course in Health and Fitness, liaising with the CDETB and supporting the participants on the course.
To develop and maintain positive and mutually beneficial relationships with relevant health, wellbeing external agencies in both the voluntary and statutory sector.
To assist the Human Resources department with the planning and execution of the annual staff/ volunteer Health and Wellbeing week.
To recruit and support part time volunteers to enhance the programme offering e.g. physiotherapists, yoga, Reiki & Reflexology therapist, personal trainer.
To prepare reports, statistics and other information as required by Dublin Simon Community, to adhere to good record keeping guidelines and usage of databases and Internal IT Systems.
Carry out administrative and financial procedures in accordance with organisation policies.
To perform as a full team member supporting colleagues, participating in effective handovers and communicating promptly in order to ensure effective working relationships.
To attend internal/ external meetings such as team meetings, working groups and planning days as required by the various teams within the organisation.
Ensure clients are consulted and involved in the operation of the project as far as possible through the client groups i.e. Client Action Group and residents groups in Dublin Simon Community.
To promote among staff/ volunteers and clients the key role physical activities play in enhancing wellbeing.
Work with the management to measure the impact the activities have on the life of the individual clients and work with clients in a tangible way to achieve positive outcomes.
To promote activities that is inclusive so as to decrease isolation and increase self esteem and social skills.
To support the development of transferable skills among clients and ensure that all activities are integral to service delivery.
Set up a before and after process to measure the impact the programmes have on individuals.
Essential for the role
A recognised NCEF, ITEC, or equivalent EQF Level 3 Fitness Instructor qualification/Health and Fitness/Nutrition qualifications or Sport Science.
Be a member/eligible to register as a member of REP’s Ireland.
Up-to-date First Aid certification essential.
1 year’s experience supervising a gym floor, conducting fitness assessments and developing training programmes for Health & Wellbeing members.
At least one year’s experience organising or working in a health or fitness organisation and at least one of the following: (1)Group Work/Group Participation; (2)Organising events, training or workshop; (3)Sports/Dance/Coaching/Fitness; (4)Health promotion.
