High Support Guidance Practitioner
Ballymun Job Centre are currently seeking a highly motivated and skilled Guidance Practitioner to join our High Support service team. If you are someone who appreciates the importance of the structure, meaning and purpose that further education, training, and employment provides to those coming from a history of substance use and how it is a crucial step to support long-term recovery, we would love to hear from you.
The High Support Guidance Practitioner will provide individual and group employment guidance and interventions to stable and drug free clients and carry out the following tasks.
Provide one to one employment guidance and support to clients seeking employment, training, or education opportunities.
Conduct assessments of client’s strengths, interests, and skills to identify potential career paths.
Develop individualised career plans and provide ongoing support to clients as they work towards their goals.
Use relevant funding streams to progress clients into training/education and ensure all administration and approval procedures are followed.
Design, develop and implement group programmes, workshops, and other related activities in response to client needs.
Ensure that all administration records and reports are maintained in line with data protection and GDPR guidelines.
Develop and maintain interagency initiatives to promote good working relationships and ensure effective responses to challenges and barriers faced by the client group.
Develop and maintain key relationships with relevant local services and national services such as, addiction counselling services, literacy support services, community nurses and further training and education providers.
Represent the BJC at meetings/seminars related to substance abuse
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of one years’ experience working with stable and drug free clients and a strong passion for helping individuals in recovery to achieve their full potential. They should have knowledge of the drug and alcohol treatment field and the unique challenges faced by individuals in recovery. They should have experience of providing employment and career guidance along with knowledge of job search and career development resources and strategies. They should have excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, strong database management and record keeping and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
A relevant 3rd level qualification in Addiction or related field is essential and a qualification in Adult Guidance would be a distinct advantage.
This is a full-time position and is offered on an initial one-year fixed term contract. The position is funded by the Ballymun Local Drug and Alcohol Task Force.
Following shortlisting, successful candidates will be invited to attend for interview. Garda Vetting may be required on appointment.
Salary for this position is on a scale between €34,782 and €44,019 depending on experience.
