Salary commensurate with experience
Weekend Allowances for hours worked on Saturday /Sunday.

Experience / Qualifications
Essential:
At least two years’ experience in a head chef or similar role.
At least five years’ experience of working as a chef in a kitchen serving up to 100 people.
HACCP Level 3, including qualification to supervise others in the application of HACCP standards.
Proven ability to lead and support others, promote a positive team spirit and facilitate the professional development of colleagues.
Computer literacy, specifically a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Desirable:
Experience of working/volunteering in the Homeless sector.

Principal Accountabilities
For our residents – Deliver a full catering service to residents that reflects the Iveagh Trust’s commitment to its residents, whatever their circumstances.
For your team – supervise, support and development of the Kitchen Team, promoting employee relations with all who work in the kitchen, aligned to the Iveagh Trust’s core principles of work.
Daily Menu –– plan, prepare and deliver healthy, nutritious meals for residents in compliance with all hygiene and health and safety requirements/regulations while minimising waste, ensuring variety (seasonal) and variety, according to seasonal availability and resident’s needs.
Kitchen & Dining Room Operations – Ensure HACCP regulations are maintained to the highest standards and all equipment is fully serviced as required.
Supplier/Stock Management – maintain prudent stock levels; review and adjust supply chain to ensure best quality and cost management (Including utensils, plates bowl, cutlery etc.)
Budget Management – manage and report against budget as required; in conjunction with the Hostel Manager develop plans to achieve financial targets and cost controls.
Quality Management – Ensure all required records are up-to-date and accurate and provide reports as necessary to fulfil compliance with external regulation and Iveagh Trust standards.
Innovation – apply creative approach in regard to all aspects of the role for the betterments of the residents and for the Iveagh Trust, in its goal to provide a high-quality service for all.
Health & Safety
To fulfil our obligations under the Health and Safety at Work legislation including but not limited to:
To ensure that reasonable care is taken for health and safety of yourself and others, who are authorised to be in the kitchen.
To keep work areas safe and report any hazard, loss, damage or near misses in accordance with the Iveagh Trust procedures.
To be responsible for ensuring the First Aid box in the kitchen is always fully stocked.
To observe all safety rules and procedures, including those laid down in the Iveagh Trust Safety Statement.
To carry out and promote fire and accident/other safety drills as directed by the Hostel senior staff
To participate in all Health and Safety training scheduled for you and your team.
Other remarks
As a core member of Iveagh Hostel Team, we need you to be flexible (willing to provide emergency/short notice cover etc.) and that you will prioritise the care of the residents, some of whom are very vulnerable.
