The Role
The Media and Content Coordinator is a key role to support the management and efficacy of PSI’s owned and earned media through the creation, development, monitoring, measurement, and reporting of communications content and collateral. Brand integrity is a vital aspect across all responsibilities of this role.
Key Responsibilities
Owned media
Website
Regular updating and editing of the PSI website.
Gatekeep website content by facilitating content requests from internal groups, i.e., staff, divisions, special interest groups, and committees.
Liaising with web provider to coordinate improvements and upgrades.
Source and coordinate the composition of site content.
Develop, implement, and manage copy, content, and navigation on the website.
Oversee and produce content that is SEO-friendly and that promotes the PSI brand and core messages, and furthers its objective and mission.
Monitor SEO, metrics, and user engagement and suggest content optimisation.
Oversee and/or conduct content audits to eliminate redundant and/or duplicate information, improving the navigation to enhance the user experience.
Provide regular dashboard reporting and content development improvements.
Social media
Monitor and manage content (copy, videos, audio, and visuals) and engagement with PSI social platforms on a daily basis.
Plan, implement, and optimise organic and paid social media campaigns across the PSI social platforms.
Analyse, review, and report against agreed plans’ progress and metrics, on a monthly/quarterly basis.
Design and develop infographics, videos, and other collateral for social media, and other digital, marketing, and communications campaigns.
Monitor and report monthly/quarterly on the social media budgets.
Champion and police best practice in PSI’s social media marketing.
Member communications
Compile, design, and issue the fortnightly PSI e-zine to Society members.
Source and develop ezine content.
Issue/oversee additional email communications when required.
Publications
Coordinate projects to develop Society brochures, handbooks, and other promotional material.
Co-ordinate content and proofing of the PSI documents and publications, such as the Society magazine The Irish Psychologist (IP) and the annual report.
Coordinate issuing of the IP in electronic format to relevant members.
Earned media
Public Relations
Respond to reactive media requests, putting forward the most appropriate PSI spokesperson.
Research, develop, and draft media-related content – for press releases, media statements, feature articles, blogs, etc. – as required.
Support the PSI Communications and Events Committee.
The successful candidate will also carry out other duties that may be assigned from time to time including, but not limited to, attending internal and external events on behalf of the PSI.
The Person
Essential skills/experience
Minimum of two full years in a similar role.
Relevant third-level qualification in communications, public relations, marketing, or similar course.
Relevant permit to work in Ireland if required.
Experience in social media undertaking is essential.
Experience with website content management systems.
Knowledge of using graphic design tools, such as Canva and Adobe Photoshop.
Excellent written and spoken English.
Strong content editing and writing skills showcased in a previous role.
Knowledge of using video editing tools.
An understanding of search engine optimisation process.
Experience of working in a not-for-profit or charity sector would be advantageous.
Excellent organisation and project management skills with ability to multi-task under time constraints.
Skills that enable collaboration and communication, including MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, and email marketing platforms.
Capable of working in a team environment as well as on own initiative.
Awareness of relevant socio-political environment.
Full clean driving licence.
