Mental Health Promotion Officer – Mental Health Ireland – Co Dublin

POSITION SUMMARY
Ireland’s National Mental Health Policy, Sharing the Vision places a special emphasis on the promotion of mental health. MHI aims to be the lead national agency in promoting positive mental health, wellbeing and recovery. This is the key theme in our current national strategy ‘Mental Health for All: Hope, Strength & Action’.
The Mental Health Promotion Officer will report to the Mental Health Promotion Manager and work closely with the National Woodlands and Nature Project Lead, National Office Team, Development Officer team, MHAs and other relevant agencies to coproduce projects, campaigns, research and innovation. The role demands flexible working hours which will necessitate some attendance at out of hours meetings/events related to the duties of a Health Promotion Officer. The applicant must have the necessary experience and capacity to lone working and to work on their own initiative as well as part of a team.
The postholder will play an active role in supporting MHI meet the goals & objectives in the strategic plan. They will ensure the promotion of positive mental health; wellbeing and recovery extends across the whole population and life cycle. This includes those difficult to reach and at-risk cohorts with a special focus on improving the global health status of people with significant mental health challenges

THE PERSON
The successful candidate will have a passion for mental health promotion, experience in planning and innovation with specific skills in areas including mental health promotion, project initiation, development, implementation, evaluation training, change management and population health.
They will also have experience in research and evaluation and be capable of planning and coproducing mental health promotion programmes They will be able to translate best practice and new emerging evidence into robust initiatives that can be mobilised and utilised by community members in Ireland

Conditions of employment:
The Mental Health Promotion Officer will be based at MHI’s Head Office in Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin. There is provision for some working from home in the present pandemic circumstances but will be required periodically to attend regional meetings. The position is based on a 5-day week (37 hours), exclusive of lunch hours, with flexible working hours including regular evening work and occasional weekend working.
The salary for this post is analogous with Grade IV, HSE the salary scale the fourth point of which is €33,508 (as at Oct 2020). This post is being offered on the basis of a two year, fixed term, fixed purpose contract of employment. Garda vetting is required for this position.
