Job Purpose
The job’s purpose is to support the adults accessing Day service in developing and formalising a person- centred culture, and to achieve a high quality of personal outcomes in a time of rapidly changing regulatory requirements and in line with New Directions. The suitable candidate will support the development of the land and work closely with the existing team.
Job Description:
The effective running of social farm/garden workshop supporting adults with various support needs. The role will include gardening and farming through the tasks set out below, by supporting and working with people with different abilities. The role will involve understanding and developing a positive group dynamic and promoting a person-centred culture. The successful applicant will be responsible for provision of meaningful work for people according to their ability and encouraging the individuals to develop relevant skills and opportunities for self-development within a day service provision.
This role will involve:
The ability to plan and organize projects around the estate and grounds, involve the participants in a meaningful manner.
Creating a good working environment and a group dynamic that enables each person to benefit and learn in a meaningful supportive way.
Working with and inducting volunteers in the practical aspects of their roles, coaching desired ways of working on an ongoing basis.
Provide supervision, leadership and mentorship to the volunteers supporting you within your role.
Creatively supporting people to develop and pursue their aims & goals and engage in their person centred plan.
Delivering supports to individuals regarding personal and intimate care and ensuring that they are provided to the highest standard in a person-centered approach.
Be innovative in relation to new ideas, work closely with the farmer/gardener in relation to improving the standards, and impress a vision for space that in time will flourish and further benefit the adults accessing the service.
Flexibility regarding hours and oversight of the farm/garden.
Ensuring that all issues in relation to health & safety, food, nutrition, cleanliness & hygiene, record keeping, keeping of proper accounts and compliance with Camphill’s policies and procedures are always met to the highest standards
Engaging constructively with the Management Group and communicate any issues or concerns proactively.
Maintain tools, equipment, products, and the workshop itself in a safe and clean manner.
To have ready the materials, resources and expertise required for the project/activity.
Actively participate in welfare meetings and ensure all relevant information is communicated in line with best practise.
Reports to: Day Service Coordinator and Person in Charge.
Key Job Requirements
Attributes and Qualifications:
Essential Attributes/Qualifications:
Experience working within the area of farming/horticulture and outdoor space.
Minimum Level 5 in a related social care field.
Full Clean Driving Licence.
Working knowledge of regulatory standards within in Day service provision.
Ability to self-motivate and lead out on resourceful projects within the estate.
A strong ability to work within a team and have the ability to lead on individual tasks.
Desirable Attributes.
Experience in supporting people who display challenging behaviour.
Experience working within in Disability sector.
Evidence base approach to practical elements of the workload.
Experience facilitating group activities and evidencing lesson plans.
Flexible, responsible, and mature approach to work.
Good level of problem solving
Good understanding of New Directions.
Renumeration: €31,200 per annum.
Hours: 40 hrs per week
Contract: Initial one-year period subject to a 3-month probation period.
