Outreach Officer – Jesuit Refugee Service Ireland – Dublin

Job Description
Illustrative duties are below:
To provide outreach, accompaniment and integration supports to individuals, families and children residing in IPAS centres and alternative emergency and temporary locations.
To support asylum applicants to navigate the protection process and beyond, to assist them access rights and entitlements (e.g welfare, legal, medical, education and employment) and to provide individual follow up where appropriate.
To help resolve emerging concerns related to living conditions, safety and wellbeing in IPAS accommodation and assist vulnerable applicants to access appropriate supports and services.
To deliver regular information and advice clinics in IPAS accommodation centres and alternative accommodation locations.
To assist with the delivery of and development of JRS integration and transition supports to prepare asylum seekers for and meet their changing needs in life outside the IPAS accommodation system.
To identify concerns and challenges encountered in the delivery of outreach supports and services to inform advocacy priorities.
To assist when necessary in delivering flagship JRS projects and core organisational activities.

Skills & Qualifications:
The successful candidate will ideally possess:
A relevant third-level qualification in community development, social work, social science or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
2 years or more demonstrable work experience in a similar role.
A full clean driving licence.
An understanding and knowledge of the asylum process in Ireland, the operation of the Direct Provision system and the integration of migrants.
Experience of working with vulnerable groups, social exclusion and disadvantaged communities.
Commitment to social justice and the JRS mission ‘to accompany, to serve and to advocate the cause of refugees and forcibly displaced persons’.
