Philanthropy Officer – UNICEF Ireland – Dublin 1

The role
UNICEF Ireland is hiring a Philanthropy Officer to expand the Philanthropy team and maximise support for UNICEF from high-net-wealth individuals, trusts, and foundations. The Philanthropy Officer will support the Head of Philanthropy in building new high value donor relationships and stewarding existing relationships. This role will play a key part in enabling the department to achieve even greater results for children.

Reporting to the Head of Philanthropy, the role holder will:
Support the strategic development of the Philanthropy programme to maximise support for UNICEF from high-net-wealth individuals, trusts, and foundations based in Ireland.
Proactively develop one-to-one relationships with new and existing high value supporters, delivering excellent stewardship and cultivation, and asking at the right time for financial support.
Support the Head of Philanthropy on the effective management of a portfolio of donors and prospects.
Collaborate on the implementation of a robust prospecting plan, growing a caseload of potential high-net-wealth supporters, taking initiative and progressing outreach to engage new philanthropists with UNICEF’s work.
Identify opportunities for uplifting the value of current supporters and collaborate on the development of strategies and plans to sustainably increase support and deepen loyalty.
Support the implementation of a giving circle programme to grow multi-annual unrestricted income as part of the department’s overall strategy to achieve sustainable and diversified growth.
Support the refinement of creative and relevant supporter journeys to retain and grow the number of high net-wealth supporters, including appropriate donor recognition and stewardship activities.
Manage a tailored donor communications programme to provide high value supporters with information about UNICEF’s work for children, and to secure additional funds during emergencies and at key calendar moments.
Collaborate on the production of bespoke proposals, presentations, and impact reports for high value donors and prospects.
Co-create and manage bespoke events and engagement opportunities for high value audiences and key connectors. Invite, host, and follow up with donors and prospects to leverage events for strategic relationship building.
Contribute to the department’s monitoring, evaluating, and reporting against income targets on a regular basis.
Develop a strong knowledge of UNICEF’s work so that you can be an informed source for current and potential supporters.
Coordinate internally with UNICEF Ireland colleagues to ensure effective communication, reporting, and maximisation of cross-team opportunities.
Ensure that all donor records are accurate and up to date and that all information relating to donors and prospects is produced, processed, and stored in line with data protection regulations and best practice.
Take forward specialist projects as assigned by the Head of Philanthropy and Executive leadership.

The successful candidate will ideally possess the following experience and skills:
Experience of developing and managing high quality, high value relationships with major donors, trusts, and foundations.
Proven experience of securing significant financial support from private individuals and of personally making the ask at major gift level.
Experience of producing a range of communications including major gift acknowledgements, high-quality impact reports, bespoke proposals, and pitch presentations for high value donors.
Experience of effective prospecting and pipeline development strategies.
Experience of utilising events for donor cultivation and stewardship.
Exceptional interpersonal skills, and comfortable making direct contact with individual donors to discuss interest and commitment.
A flair for written and verbal communication, with the ability to convey complex ideas using a variety of methods to engage an audience and win understanding and support.
Results focused with an aptitude for managing conflicting priorities to ensure that objectives are achieved and deadlines met.
Ability to respond flexibly to unforeseen events to ensure that effectiveness is not compromised, remaining positive and recovering from setbacks.
Adept at working across multiple projects at one time, engaging colleagues and stakeholders at multiple levels.
Knowledge of Ireland’s current philanthropy and high net-wealth landscape and the Sustainable Development Goals.
Knowledge of GDPR regulations and their implications for fundraising.
Knowledge of Salesforce or similar CRM software.
Microsoft 365 proficiency.
