South Dublin County Childcare Committee
was established in 2002 to strategically co-ordinate the sustainable development of an accessible and holistic quality childcare infrastructure in South Dublin County. South Dublin CCC is funded by the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth (DCEDIY)and acts as the local agent for DCEDIY in South Dublin County.
As Play Specialist, you’ll play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of our annual statement of work, working closely with the Manager and our dedicated team.

Your core duties will include:
In conjunction with the Development team within South Dublin CCC, provide Stay and Play sessions within the Ukrainian accommodation centres.
Work in partnership with the other team members and other stakeholders in implementing additional projects as required to support the Ukrainian families.
Work in partnership with other stakeholders to ensure families access supports available to them in the community.
Complete administrative tasks in relation to the provision of Stay and Play sessions and other supports such as weekly session progress reports, session attendance records, reporting to Pobal/DCEDIY, organisation of resources.
As a Play Specialist, you will be at the heart of our mission, creating a safe and engaging space where children and their parents can come together to play, learn, and connect, designing and implementing culturally sensitive play activities for children and families from Ukraine.
To succeed in this role, you’ll need a nationally recognized Level 6/7 qualification in childcare/early year’s education child psychology, counselling, social work, trauma informed care or a related field, at least one years of experience in a leadership role. Knowledge of child development theories, play therapy approaches, and trauma-informed care is essential and previous experience working with children and families, particularly from diverse cultural backgrounds, is highly desirable. Fluency in Ukrainian language and familiarity with Ukrainian culture is a plus. You will need excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with children, parents, and families effectively. This position is a special purpose fixed-term contract with part time hours – 20 hours per week, until December 2023, with flexibility required for evening and weekend work.
This role is aligned to Grade 4 of the Local Government Salary Scales. Our current office is in Clondalkin, Dublin, with hybrid working options available.
