Short Term Contract

Age Action is the leading advocacy organisation on ageing and older people in Ireland.  Our mission is to achieve fundamental change in the lives of all older people by eliminating age discrimination, promoting positive ageing and securing their right to comprehensive and high quality services. Advocacy & Communications

The Policy Assistant will be a member of the Advocacy & Communications team.  The policy team work on a range of issues that impact on the lives of older people and their families. This is done by collaborating with many different agencies in the public, private and community and voluntary sectors. Our activities include undertaking research, making policy submissions, assisting the Head of Advocacy and Communications in responding to policy issues through the media and representing Age Action and the voice of older people at a range of policy events and fora.

Ageing & Development Programme

The policy Assistant will assist the policy team on global ageing and issues older people face in developing countries, such as access to social protection, health and HIV/Aids and the inclusion of older people in humanitarian response or emergency situations.

The Person

The person must have a third level qualification in social science (law/politics/sociology) or a related field, excellent project management skills and a track record of working well with groups and individuals.  Experience of working with older people and volunteers would be desirable.

Conditions of Service

This is a part time fixed term contract for six months.  The person appointed will be included in Age Action’s Death in Service Benefit Scheme.
