Project Worker – Foróige – Big Picture Youth Café

PROJECT WORKER
The Big Picture Youth Café, is operated and managed by Foróige and funded by Tallaght Drug & Alcohol Task Force (TDATF), through the HSE. It is based in The Big Picture building- Foróige’s Youth work Hub in Central Tallaght.

The Big Picture Youth Café aims to provide a safe, drug free space for young people aged fourteen years plus, particularly those most at risk of drug and alcohol misuse. It targets young people that are not currently engaged in a specific youth activity and provides an introduction to available youth programmes and activities. It will also target young people attending the café to take part in programmes addressing substance use/misuse, providing education, awareness and accurate information while developing their life skills through a range of activities, in line with best practice in drug use prevention.

Professional Qualifications and Experience
(E) = Essential, (D) = Desirable
Education to National Degree standard preferably in Youth / Drugs/ Health Promotion (E)
A minimum of 1 year relevant work or voluntary experience working with young people and a proven ability to identify, recruit and engage at-risk young people (E)
Highly organised, systematic and flexible in approach. (E)
An understanding of Youth Work and Community Work methodologies (E)
An understanding of substance and alcohol issues and the National Drugs Strategy (E)
Exceptional administrative skills (E)
Access to a car and full driving licence (D)
Ability to engage young people creatively through the use of technology (D)
