The role involves providing personal care to residents with a physical disability in their own home. You will report directly to the House Co-ordinator/Snr. Co-worker and assist him/her in the smooth functioning of a household of up to 5 residents (referred to as villagers).
Essential
Have a minimum of a FETAC Level 5 Qualification in a Healthcare or Social Care discipline.
Have previous experience in a caring/support/ monitoring role working with physical and intellectual disabilities in both adult and children’s services.
Fluent English both oral and written required.
Desirable
Experience of working with vulnerable and disadvantaged groups, ideally within intellectual disability sector is a distinct advantage
Be flexible to cover a range of sleeping night shifts.
Candidates should ideally have a clean driving license and access to a vehicle for work.
Assist, CPR, TCI/MAPA & Manual Handling training desirable but will be provided should applicant be successful.
Core Duties & Responsibilities
To undertake such personal and intimate duties as may be required for individual service users such as bathing, toileting, assisting with dressing/undressing, personal cleanliness and appearance.
To carry out regular and record checks on residents throughout the night, according to intervals set by House Co-ordinator/Snr. Co-worker with due regard to residents’ individual wishes.
To assist with the preparation of meals, and light domestic duties such as cleaning residents’ bedrooms, assisting with washing up etc. Ensuring that the house is correctly secured every night.
Assisting with daily medication in line with personal plans and Medication Administration Policy and procedure.
Provide administrative support to the House Co-ordinator/Snr. co-worker to achieve and maintain compliance with the regulations and National Disability Standards 2009.
Maintains resident privacy and confidentiality of information and records at all times.
