Social Care Worker, Derralossary House – Traveller Families Care – Co Wicklow

Person Specification:
We are currently seeking to recruit one full time post and one half-time post for Social Care Worker to work in our residential centre based in Roundwood, Co. Wicklow who cater for Separated Children Seeking International Protection.
What does Derralossary House do?
Derralossary is a short term stay unit catering for 13- 17-year-olds on admission and is a mixed gender unit providing care and accommodation for separated children seeking international protection in Ireland. In an emergency situation special consideration will be given to young people under the age of 13 if they form part of a sibling group.
Derralossary House recognises that separated young people seeking international protection come with varied and complex needs. We aim to ensure that the service provided understands the cross-cultural differences and language barriers that occur between the young people and the carers. Derralossary House recognises that common to all these young people is the need for a welcoming, safe, secure, warm and nurturing environment.
Location: Roundwood, Bray, Co. Wicklow.
Hours of Work: Working time compliant rota, predominantly day shifts (3-day shifts per week) with the occasional overnight.

Qualifications:
A recognised third level practice qualification; qualifications considered as a related and field are:
Level 7/8 in Applied Social Studies/Social Care.
Level 7/8 in Youth and Community Work, Social Work, Social Sciences
Level 8 in Psychology
Level 7 in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy
Level 7 in Counselling
Level 7/8 in Teaching & Nursing
Level 7/8 Addiction studies where appropriate

Experience:
Experience in the area of residential care is an advantage.
Experience working in partnership with vulnerable children.

Essential competencies:
Communication skills, commitment to providing the highest level of service, openness to change, professionalism, respect for others.
All applicants must have a full, clean driving license.
