Support Workers – Enable Ireland – Cork

Overview of the Post:
To provide support to Adult Service Owners to enable them to participate in their community, increase their own personal independence, achieve person centred goals and facilitate inclusion.
The support worker will provide practical, personal and social support to the individuals and groups they work with.
Must be flexible regarding working hours (afternoons, evening, night duty and weekend work).
Key Duties and Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
Supporting groups with planning and implementation of weekly schedules.
Working in partnership with Service Owners to facilitate their active involvement in the development and achievement of personal and group goals.
Working in line with the national New Directions Policy and Guidelines and in accordance with the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) Regulations.
Working in partnership with Service Owners to enable them to achieve maximum independence, choice and inclusion in their communities.
Working as part of the staff team to contribute to the development and delivery of a variety of programmes which empower Service Owners to be effective in their personal and family lives, in their working lives and in their community and leisure pursuits
Assisting with all activities of daily living; personal care, showering, pool changing, session support, escort duties and dealing with any other special needs of Service Owners.
Be available to escort on transport across the county/city.
Undergo any training that is specific to supporting the needs of the Service Owners.
Responsible for general well-being of Service Owners whilst in attendance.
Report to Adult Services Manager/designate in relation to general maintenance, transport and security.
Attendance at staff meeting and Support Worker/Team meetings
Develop, Participate and contribute to the Person Centred Planning and key working Process.
Participate in and support Service Owners with their therapy/clinical programs including hydrotherapy.
Participate in sports and leisure programmes.
Be expected to honour and respect the diverse requirements of both individuals, families and groups using the service
Work as part of the team within the service, will be reliable and professional in their work
Respect the confidentiality code at all times
Report all suspect or allegations of abuse in adherence with Adult Safeguarding Policy
Adhere to all Health and Safety directives and guidance.
The successful candidate will have

Essential Criteria:
FETAC level 5 or equivalent in care or other healthcare qualification.
Experience in providing personal care is required
Experience of supporting Service Owners to achieve their personal goals and Person Centred Plan goals.
Experience of working effectively as part of a team.

Desirable Criteria:
Demonstrate an awareness of the rights of people with disabilities.
Experience working with adults with disabilities in the community setting
Access to own transport.
Experience in working with Service Owners with a wide range of support needs.
Possess a full clean driving licence.
