Training Coordinator – CATU Ireland

About the Job:
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Facilitate a number of training and education sessions locally &/or regional, covering core union tools (community organising, direct action tools, member recruitment, relationship building, group and committee tools and campaign and strategy tools) in conjunction with national organiser staff and local committee’s.
Run ‘Train the Trainer’ education with the National Education & Training working group and local committee’s where relevant.
Coordinate at least one monthly meeting and training with the National Education Training working group to develop and deliver new internal training and education platforms or plan to implement existing ones.
Plan and coordinate a one day organising and political education ‘winter school’ (in person or online covid dependent) and/or if possible the training and education component of the AGM in the Spring of 2022. Focus on the strands of politics/economics of community and housing, anti-oppression politics, and organising tools and methods.
Skills:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent group facilitation skills, including creating warm and accessible spaces for a variety of backgrounds, demonstrated ability to inspire and empower others
Strong planning and organisational skills
Experience:
Essential: Evidence of critical facilitation, education and training experience.
Evidence of community work, campaign or union organising.
Desirable: Computer literacy. Experience of producing training materials, experience in and appreciation of working in organisations with strong democratic structures
Interests:
A commitment to the community and tenants equality and justice and building power for working class communities on the Island of Ireland.

Qualifications:
Essential: No formal education or qualifications necessary
Desirable: “Train the Trainer” certification or similar
