Applied Behaviour Analyst (ABA)
The role requires the ABA to work as part of Harmony Residential Care (HRC) Clinical Team. The job specification includes:
Work collaboratively with the Director of Psychology and other members of the clinical team.
Provide clinical guidance on referral information.
Have a good knowledge of external supports the young people may benefit from engagement with.
Provide weekly support and recommendations, including behaviour support strategies, to the staff team to implement with each young person.
Promote knowledge, understanding and skills in the principles and techniques of positive behavioural support within in line with young people’s individual needs.
Review and provide recommendations on significant events recorded for young person.
Provide training in the area of ABA/Positive Behaviour Support to HRC staff team.
Review and provide recommendations for young person’s practice guidelines, individual placement plan and risk assessments.
Write, and assist in the writing of, formal strategy protocols that form the basis of the young person’s behaviour
Support plans.
Share resources with the staff team to support the implementation of weekly recommendations.
When a referral for behaviour support is received conduct a functional behaviour assessment in collaboration with staff and young person to design a behaviour intervention plan (BIP) to best meet the needs of the young person.
Provide training to the staff team on implementation and data collection of the young person’s BIP and ensure the staff team have the appropriate mechanisms to monitor the implementation of the behaviour intervention plan.
Ongoing review and analysis of the effectiveness of the behaviour intervention plan and any other interventions implemented.
Input into the model of care from a positive behaviour support perspective.
Adopt a trauma informed approach to interventions and recommendations.
Incorporate the CBT Model of Care systemically into interventions and recommendations.
Attend external meetings and be available for discussion and consultation with the staff team and other professionals involved in the young person’s care.
Write professional reports to share with young person’s professional care team.
Work collaboratively with Regional Manager and Director of Social Care.
Ensure an ongoing focus on CPD in relation to professional accreditation and professional development.
Participate in development of policy and organisational structures.
Provide support with the ongoing development of the organisation.
Renumeration based on experience.
