The academic staff within the department of computing participate in the development, delivery and assessment of innovative course programmes. Lecturers are responsible for guiding, motivating and managing students to ensure they develop to their full potential professionally and personally. Department of Computing The Department of Computing is involved in the development and delivery of a range of full and part-time undergraduate and post-graduate courses in Computing, Software Engineering and Development, Information Technology Infrastructure Automation and Management as well as Data Analytics. In addition to teaching, the Department has a number of research and innovation activities in Social Media Research, High Performance Computing, Mobile Systems Development, Simulation and Data Analytics. Assistant Lecturer in Computing ? Springboard Contract Post – We seek are specialists with industry experience in one or more of the following areas: ? Enterprise Scale Software Development and Engineering especially with Mobile and Cloud platforms, ? Specialists in Continuous Software Integration, Specialists with Data, Data Analytics & Science skills up to and including Business Intelligence and Data Mining, ? Specialists in IT infrastructure including Automation, Virtualisation, Deployment, ? Knowledge of Data Mining and Semantic Web. Duties (a) Teaching such assigned classes as deemed appropriate by management of the Institute, day or evening, up to 630 hours per annum including a supervision of post graduate students where appropriate. (These arrangements are subject to collective agreements arrived at from time to time and authorised by the Minister for Education and Science) (b) Carry out assessment, monitoring and evaluation of examination work and providing an academic and consultative support to students in their learning activities. Skills Requirements
Applications are welcome from those with an honours primary degree (National Framework of Qualification Level 8) with a minimum of a 2.2 award in Computing or equivalent with at least three years relevant post graduate experience. In addition successful candidates may ideally also have a relevant higher qualification (Masters or PhD) or equivalent in the area of computing. Experience of teaching at undergraduate or post graduate level is also desirable.
