Research, Communications and Database Intern – Youth Work Ireland – Dublin

Youth Work Ireland is Ireland’s largest charities that support local young people and local communities throughout Ireland. We have 7,224 Volunteers, 995 staff, 470 Youth Clubs, 200 projects, 22 Member Youth Services around Ireland. Due to our last Intern getting a job we have an exciting internship position researching and quantifying everything we do. We like to improve our database of all activities broken down into fields such as geographical location, age demographics, funding per participant etc.

Are a people person willing to chase lots of people by phone looking for their numbers of young people.
Want to put your academic knowledge to good use and get the work experience you require.

This internship is available through two routes:

Under the Youth Work Ireland Scheme: You must be available Monday to Friday for a minimum of 21 hours to apply for this internship. We will consider a summer internship for the correct candidate. Youth Work Ireland will be happy to facilitate any relevant training and support to the intern on this scheme. We are also happy to work with third level students studying Youth Work or similar. Youth Work Ireland will refund bus fares and reasonable travel and subsistence costs to the intern on this scheme.

Under Job Bridge INTE-917202: You must be entitled to JobBridge and be available Monday to Friday for a minimum of 35 hours  to apply for this internship. It will be a nine month role. Youth Work Ireland will be happy to facilitate any relevant training and support to the intern on this scheme.

The intern will gain practical experience in:

Building an excel  database of all Youth Work Activities broken down into fields such as geographical location, age demographics, funding per participant etc.
Writing reports to our Board of Directors.
The workings of Charity and Community Sector.
Experience of working with Fundraising, Communications and Finance Departments.
Experience of working directly with our Customers i.e. Youth Services.  .
The intern will receive formal/informal training in the following: Any software applications that would be necessary for developing the database and presentations.  Excel, Access, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint or Publisher etc.

The intern will gain NOT gain experience in: Working Directly with Young People. This is an office based role.

Personal Specification:

You should have good communication skills by phone and email as they will be contacting some of our customers directly.  You must love communicating through numbers too.
An interest in Youth Work, Charities and the Community Sector would be a help too.
Anybody who has dealt with quantifiable data as part of their third level training. Typically people with educational training in areas such as science, finance, maths and accountancy and similar have the type of skills required.
