REPORT TO: PROGRAMMES & TRAINING MANAGER
OVERALL PURPOSE & LEVEL: The post holder will be required to use their skills, experience and initiative to add value to The Wheel’s training and information / capacity-building support services. The post holder will require a high level of self-motivation, a positive disposition and significant ability to focus consistently on targets.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: The post holder will maintain positive professional relationships with colleagues and a wide range of non-profit organisations and community and voluntary organisations. They will support the Programmes and Training Manager to develop & maintain valuable relationships with a range of statutory agencies and commercial organisations in pursuit of the interests of The Wheel. She/he will work in The Wheel in such a way as to encourage the best from, and support the efforts of, others.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Assist the Programmes and Training Manager in developing The Wheel’s annual training plans.
Deliver, and assist with further development of The Wheel’s half-day workshops and customised ‘tailored training’ in following areas of focus in particular: corporate governance for charities/non-profits; responsibilities of board directors of charities; and, the Governance Code for Community, Voluntary and Charitable Organisations.
Implement The Wheel’s programme of supports to help organisations transition to an era of charity regulation and greater focus on transparency and good governance. This is based on the recruitment, establishment and support of clusters of groups providing peer support to each other as they participate in a structured learning programme devised and implemented by The Wheel.
Respond and track queries from members, particularly those which come in via the info@regulation.ie email and ‘help desk’.
Update and manage The Wheel’s in-house templates pack to enable members implement the Governance Code in their organisations.
Support the Programmes & Training Manager to identify the training and information needs of The Wheel’s members and, as part of a team, design/develop programmes to meet those needs (either delivery in house or through external providers).
Assist the Programmes and Training Manager liaise with external providers of training and information supports and other capacity building services that may be value-adding to our members and with whom The Wheel wishes to work in collaboration.
Establish and implement an appropriate evaluation mechanism and process to measure and track progress.
Amend and revisit programmes as necessary, in order to adapt to changes occurring in the environment for the non-profit sector.
Write and produce relevant and compelling: training materials; promotional materials; reports to members; and reports to donors.
Consider the costs of planned programmes and keep within budgets; assess the return on investment of any training or development programme.
Contribute towards the meeting of non-statutory income targets by driving increased demand for training & customised ‘tailored training’.
Keep up to date with developments in training by reading relevant journals, going to meetings and attending relevant courses.
Have an understanding of e-learning techniques, and become involved in the creation and/or delivery of e-learning packages.
Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be assigned by the Programmes & Training Manager from time to time.
Actively protect The Wheel’s integrity through honesty, sincerity and service to its members whilst promoting nationally the benefits of association with The Wheel.

Education, Qualifications and Training
Educated to third level standard or equivalent.
Qualification in corporate governance / legal.
Experience
At least six years’ experience and a proven track record in a training and capacity building role.
Significant experience in the training and/or practice of corporate governance.
Track record of success as a project manager and coordinator of programmes and projects.
Track record of managing multiple tasks with strong planning and organisation skills
Direct experience in training in corporate governance with non-profits.
Good knowledge of the non-profit sector in Ireland
Relevant Skills and Aptitudes
An ambitious self-starter with a proven capacity to engage clients/customers in stimulating learning experiences.
Exceptional inter-personal skills.
Outstanding oral and written communication skills.

Terms and Conditions
This position is a twenty-one month full-time contract with a possibility of renewal, depending on the continuation of the funding streams which fund this role.
The salary for this position will depend on the knowledge and experience of the person who occupies it and will be decided accordingly. The full time range for gross annual salary is between €40,000 and €45,000.
This position is full time and based at The Wheel office in Temple Bar, Dublin 2.
This position requires some participation in meetings which can occur in the evenings and at weekends and also nation-wide.
