Background
Cherry Orchard Community Training Centre provides training, education and certification to young early school leavers with options to meet the needs of young people who left school early or who left with insufficient educational qualifications. Programmes are designed to enhance each trainee’s opportunities to learn new skills and achieve the certification necessary for progression into employment, further training or continued education. The Community Training Centre (CTC) also links with other service providers to increase the choices available to young people in order to enable them to make decisions based on the local availability of a range of options. Cherry Orchard CTC is funded by the City of Dublin Education and Training Board (CDETB).
A vacancy has arisen for the position of General Manager and the Board of Directors invites applications from enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals.
The General Manager reports directly to the Board of Directors and has managerial responsibility for the staff of the Community Training Centre. The Manager is accountable for the development, delivery and operation of all aspects of the Community Training Centre including business planning, financial management, programme certification, recruitment of trainees, working with other local agencies and ensuring maximum efficiency and value for money. Essential requirements
Candidates must:
Have a recognised degree level qualification or equivalent or at least 5 years experience working at management level in a comparable role or at least 8 years experience working within the Youthreach / Community Training service provision sector
Have at least 2 years staff management experience preferably in the education and training sector
Have at least 2 years financial management experience preferably in the non profit sector
Have strategic and business planning experience
Have excellent communication and leadership skills
Preferable requirements
Candidates should:
Be able to demonstrate initiative and the ability to motivate and work effectively with the Board, staff, learners, CDETB and other key stakeholders
Have experience or deep understanding of the key issues in relation to young early school leavers
Be able to demonstrate their understanding of individual learner plans as an approach to training programme development and delivery
Have a strong understanding of QQI and Quality Assurance accreditation requirements
Have excellent I.T., report writing and presentations skills
Have an understanding of the role of key agencies engaged in the delivery of services to young early school leavers
This is a fixed term 12 month contract. The salary scale associated with the post is based on a points scale defined by CDETB depending on experience ranging from €38,333 to €64,786 which includes two long service increments. Maximum entry points are applicable and new entrants will be offered the post at point one on the salary scale.
