Invitation to Tender, Community Music Instructors – Tipperary Regional Youth Service – Thurles

Tipperary Regional Youth Service (TRYS) are seeking two community music instructors to work with young people on our Cool Ceol Music Projects in the North of the county.

The Cool Ceol project is an initiative designed to open up the world of musical performance to teenagers who may not otherwise have the opportunity to develop their musical skills and talents. The project is aimed at young people aged 13-18 years, and will be housed within our youth centres in Templemore, Littleton and Thurles. The young people will receive tuition and performance support in a type of music that they choose.  They will receive basic musical tuition in a group setting taking the focus off the individual creating a fun learning environment.

We are seeking two Community Music instructors who are competent in a range of musical instruments to work in a group work setting. Ideally, the candidate must be prepared to work with young people through all stages of musical practice and performance, including both instrumental and vocal work. The candidate will be required to facilitate, with the assistance of Tipperary Regional Youth Service staff, weekly 1.5 hour duration groups in each of our three centres in North Tipperary. It is envisaged that groups will progress to a stage where they are component to perform and record songs.

Applicants should be suitable to work with young people and will be subject to Garda Vetting.
