Lecturer, Ballinasloe Medical Academy – NUI Galway

Description

The purpose of this post is to support the Professor of Psychiatry at NUI Galway and the Strand Leader in Ballinasloe Medical Academy in the delivery of psychiatry teaching to undergraduate medical students, course organisation and assessment of students competence. In addition, the post-holder will have a role in research and administration. The post would be suitable for work towards a higher degree (MMedSci or MD). The post will be based in the Discipline of Psychiatry and the post-holder will carry out the duties of the post under the direction of the Head of the School or of an authorised senior member of the staff of the School. The post-holder will undertake undergraduate clinical teaching, examination and participate in research activities affiliated with NUI Galway and at Ballinasloe Medical Academy.

Skills Requirements

Essential; MB BCh BAO; Have attained or be close to attaining the MRCPsych or MRCP. Completed at least four months training in psychiatry. Undergraduate Teaching Experience (e.g. delivery of lectures / small group based teaching sessions). An understanding of medical education theory. Interest in and commitment to research and evidence based practice. Administration experience. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Leadership Qualities. Commitment to evidence based practice.
