Applications are invited for the above post in the Academic Discipline of Anatomy at NUI, Galway. The successful candidate will be expected to teach and to develop a research programme within the Discipline of Anatomy. The candidate should have an interest in developing technologies for studying the DNA damage response using live cell imaging techniques and more generally in long term live cell imaging of cultured cells He/She must have research publications in international peer-reviewed journals. The post-holder must have experience in teaching Anatomy at micro or macro scale at third level. He/she will be expected to have a major involvement in the development and delivery of Anatomy teaching programmes to undergraduate medical, Science, bioengineering and allied Health Science students. He/she will also be expected to develop new teaching programmes. He/She should have an ability to motivate others and possess excellent communication and organisational skills.
Skills Requirements
Candidates must hold a PhD in a related biological or health science discipline and possess relevant teaching and post-doctoral research experience. Ideally the candidate should have a broad interest in chromosome biology and cellular responses to DNA damage. We are specifically interested in the histone variant H2AX and its role in the DNA damage response in normal cells and tumour cells.
