Applications are invited for a fixed-term appointment as Lecturer Fixed Term in Irish Music Studies at NUI, Galway. Since its inception in November 2000, the Centre for Irish Studies has established itself, both nationally and internationally, as a dynamic centre for interdisciplinary research and advanced teaching on the endeavours of Irish people on the island of Ireland and beyond. In addition to the BA with Irish Studies, the MA in Irish Studies, and the online Diploma in Irish Studies, the Centre has a large cohort of PhD students and Irish Music Studies has been identified as a priority research area for further development.

Skills Requirements

The successful candidate will normally hold a PhD in Irish Studies, or cognate discipline, and have demonstrated ability in interdisciplinary teaching and research in Irish music studies. The position requires a considerable degree of flexibility and a dynamic approach to the challenges posed by working in a small unit.
