Rehabilitative Training Tutor – Irish Wheelchair Association – Dublin

Irish Wheelchair Association (IWA Ltd) is a progressive independent person centred organisation providing services for people with limited mobility nationally. Our mission is to provide exceptional services and other supports that change lives and ensure that people with disabilities are in a position to participate fully and equally in their communities.

We now seek applications for the following position in Clontarf, Dublin 3:

Rehabilitative Training Tutor -19.5 hours per week (1 year Fixed Term contract)

Overall Purpose of Job:

To plan, deliver and evaluate life skills training and facilitation for students with physical & sensory disabilities and/or acquired brain injury within IWA’s Rehabilitative Training Programme.  To support and motivate students to develop the skills and aptitudes needed to progress to further education or training, or access appropriate work experience and employment opportunities, or to acquire enhanced independent living skills, thus increasing students’ personal effectiveness, independence and confidence in daily life.

The RT Tutor will work directly with students using group work and also one-to-one facilitation to support students to make plans to achieve personal goals, and to assist them in linking with relevant community services, educational institutions, employers, and other bodies.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:

A recognised third level qualification in Adult Education & Training/Guidance, Occupational Therapy, or  similar education or social science related discipline
Experience of training and facilitation in a community setting essential.
Experience of one-to-one facilitation and guidance is desirable.
Experience of working with people with disabilities, or other marginalised groups, is desirable.
Commitment to the principles of person-centred services.
Excellent computer, administration, and report writing skills.
