Environmental Technician – Agriculture – Donegal County Council – Co Donegal

Description
The intern will gain practical experience in undertaking farm surveys in various catchments across the county, including carrying out the survey, sampling & analysis, compiling a report and specifying any follow-up actions required, with occasional sampling & environmental complaint investigation work also part of the role. The intern will receive formal/informal training in the following; carrying out farm inspections up to full Good Agricultural Practice (GAP), standards, recording of data, sampling, report writing,etc On completion the intern will have attained skills in farm inspection, identification of environmental issues, resolution using legislative powers and follow-up to verify the efficacy of corrective actions.

Skills Requirements
Must have good understanding of farm practices, technical terms & various schemes, including GAP Regs, Cross-compliance, single farm payments, REPS. Inspection & interview skills, note taking, report writing, planning of visits & follow-up.
