The Instructor on the Access Programme will be actively involved in providing 1:1 and group training and support to learners engaged on the programme.
The role will involve group facilitation and the delivery of certified QQI learning at level 3. The successful person will use a person centred approach to support the learner in benefiting from and contributing to community and family life. The role will involve supporting the learner to identify and link in with supports and activities available in their local area.
The successful candidate will operate as a member of the multidisciplinary Rehabilitation Team which includes Instructors, Rehabilitation Psychologist, Rehabilitation Officer and Manager.
Learning is fostered in response to identified personal needs of the individual. Service goals include increasing the participant’s independent living skills, sampling work experiences and active engagement in the community. The service focuses on maximising the health and social gains to the individual and on achieving progression that improves the individual’s overall quality of life.
The ideal applicant will have:
An appropriate professional qualification, together with a number of years relevant work experience.
Excellent facilitation, communication and organisational skills coupled with an ability to develop and implement person centred plans.
Experience of delivering QQI certified learning.
Experience in supporting people with Intellectual disabilities, ASD.
Some prior experience of working with young adults in educational and/or developmental contexts would also be a distinct advantage.
The successful candidate will receive training in the methods required for developing people with individual training and development needs.
