Acting Research and Communications Coordinator – Cork Simon Community

Cork Simon Community is currently seeking applications for the position of Acting Research and Communications Coordinator:

Role Objective: Work with the Campaigns & Communications Manager to achieve departmental and organisational objectives in the areas of communications, research, campaigns, public relations and information, both externally and internally. Assist with and contribute to growing Cork Simon’s support base and growing the organisation’s stature and reputation among a wide range of stakeholders, including political, media and the wider public, ensuring Cork Simon’s values and brand identity/ voice, is reflected appropriately. Assist with and contribute to the strategic direction of Cork Simon’s campaigning & communications function.

Some of the key duties of the role include:
Generate media coverage through media releases, photoshoots, contact with individual journalists, feature / story ideas, etc.
With C&C Manager, coordinate development of digital content diaries for all internal and external digital channels ensuring appropriate editorial balance of output, messaging, tone and language, and that all output reflects Cork Simon’s values and goals.
Develop and maintain regular contact with ‘influencers’ (TDs, councillors, etc.) providing regular and accurate information briefings, including ongoing development of Homeless Watch and other similar / new devices.
Ensure responses to public via social media and other digital channels reflect Cork Simon’s values, goals and tone of voice.
With C&C Manager work with various teams internally to identify annual campaigning themes and local / regional obstacles / issues for potential micro campaigns.
Design, conduct & manage short, medium and long-term research projects using internal resources and with external partners.
With C&C Manager co-ordinate recording of statistics across the community in line with agreed KPI requirements.
Plan, organise, manage variety of events as required through-out the year.
Annual report – concept, plan, develop, promote, launch.
Coordinate the management, maintenance and development of email and postal databases across Raisers Edge, Mailchimp, Excel and other online / offline databases ensuring information is accurate, up to date and organised.

Person specification:
Candidates will have:
Up to date office administration systems, communication methods and practice, PR methods and practice, including social media.
Graphic design / layout software, databases, website update software.
Excellent administrative & organisational skills, computer skills and interpersonal skills.
To problem solve and manage workload and time and work to own initiative and as part of a team.
To work effectively with people from a range of backgrounds as well as external agencies and contacts.
1 year of experience in a similar role.
Relevant third level degree.
