Chief Executive Officer – Psychological Society of Ireland

About the Role
The Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) is now seeking an exceptional candidate for the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead and shape the future of PSI. The primary function of the CEO position is the effective leadership and stewardship of the PSI so that its activities are planned, delivered, and developed in line with the mission, vision and values of the PSI. In conjunction with the members, Council, and staff the CEO will support and facilitate research, development, and maintenance of relevant PSI policies and plans for the development of the profession. The Council delegates responsibility for management and day-to-day operations of the Society to the CEO. This role will report directly the the President and to Council and will be based in Dublin.

Essential Skills:
Education to degree level at a minimum. A higher-level Management qualification is desirable.
Demonstrable experience of the understanding of management accounting, effective budgetary planning and preparation, resource allocation and management.
A track record and knowledge of good governance, quality and safety, regulatory compliance, company law, HR policies and procedures, management of serious incidents and complaints.
Being a Leader of People – providing strong visible leadership that elicits positive commitment and a desire to succeed from all team members and builds confidence with members using PSI supports.
Experience
At least 3 years’ experience in the role of Chief Executive or Senior Manager, ideally within a similar organisation.
Successful track record in the building and nurturing of relationships with stakeholders and members alike, with building new relationships and partnerships over a wide range of diverse collaborators within the broader sector.
Experience of working directly to a Council or a Board of Management
Experience of working within a member-led learned society involving volunteer members and employees
Experience and understanding of corporate governance as it operates in a professional body
Knowledge and understanding of the governance requirements and challenges of the not-for-profit sector.
