Communications and Fundraising Manager – Mental Health Ireland

POSITION SUMMARY
Working as a member of Mental Health Ireland’s Senior Management Team, this person leads our Communications and Fundraising function and will make a real contribution to the development of Mental Health Ireland’s Communications and Fundraising programmes.
You will have a passion for digital marketing and/or fundraising. You will be organised, creative and have the ability to work independently with great attention to detail. You will also have a deep understanding of mental health promotion in Ireland and how this operates. In addition, you will possess the skills required to lead a small team and interact with colleagues on a range of diverse projects in a timely manner.
The role requires flexible, out of office hours occasionally to attend off site events across Ireland. There is a time in lieu policy in place to cover this.

THE PERSON
The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate the following essential skills:
Two years’ experience working in communications, marketing or fundraising position.
A third level qualification in Journalism, Digital Media, Marketing or Communications.
Expertise and experience in the social media landscape and the creation and publication of content including Video, graphic and written form.
Strong analytical skills with an ability to access information accurately, quickly and strategically.
Excellent written and communications skills particularly with regard to interpreting and understanding technical data before presenting this to a general audience in an accessible, clear and concise manner.
Excellent ICT and organisational skills including video conferencing and webinar hosting.
Experience with managing Mailchimp and similar email newsletter tools with a view to building on marketing evaluation process developments.
Experience in developing and expanding a dynamic Website presence in a manner that protects the Intellectual Property Rights of MHI.
Excellent knowledge of search engine optimisation techniques and digital media analytics reporting for social media campaigns.
Experience with Adwords campaign set up and management
Keen eye for design and ability to create and edit images for online and offline use.
Deep understanding of the work of Mental Health Ireland and the mental health sector in Ireland
A passion for and experience in fundraising across online, community and other events.
Team leadership abilities in a similar field.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
The Communications and Fundraising Manager will:
Communications:
Lead on Mental Health Ireland’s Communications and Fundraising Strategy
Build our Public Affairs and Public Relations presence in order to influence Public Policy in Mental Health in Ireland
Develop MHI’s Media Strategies across a wide range of platforms.
Manage weekly/ monthly/ annual content calendars across online platforms including social media, website and newsletters.
Develop and co-ordinate content creation including photographic, video and written content for all online platforms as above.
Report on social media monitoring with proactive and reactive responses on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
Develop MHI’s Brand, visual identity, profile and awareness.
Build awareness across social media platforms at peak times of the year/ times of the week.
Develop and contribute to the growth of followers on social media platforms and both MHI and Mental Health Associations’ newsletters.
Manage inbound lead generation campaigns using SEO and paid media to drive inbound leads.
Prepare return on investment reports throughout the year.
Provide Media list maintenance and proactively engage with journalists and mainstream print and broadcast media providers.
Lead on the production of the Annual Report and similar productions to include design, content creation, liaising with design agencies and contributors to ensure delivery on time and on budget.
Storytelling – generating content from our supporters for our platforms.
Working with MHI staff and other cross-sectoral partners in developing campaigns in relation to both mental health promotion and fundraising.
Event management support for MHI staff engaged in a range of projects/events across the country.

Fundraising:
Ensure that all fundraising activities are carried out to the highest legal and ethical standards
Developing and maintaining relationships with online and community fundraisers via email, face to face and phone.
Fundraising database maintenance and management.
Developing and posting content via Mailchimp to our subscribers
Acknowledging/Thanking donors – we do that a lot here!
Managing and developing online fundraising platforms such as EverydayHero and Facebook.
Supporting community fundraisers with promotional material, social media support and fundraising kits.
Developing CSR opportunities with appropriate business partners.
Helping increase donor engagement and participation rates.
Ensure GDPR compliance of donor data and records.
Maintaining accurate reports on giving and produce reports throughout the year on fundraised income including Return on Investment.
Developing innovative ideas to help expand Mental Health Ireland’s profile
Conditions of employment:
The Communications and Fundraising Manager will be based at Head Office in Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin. There is provision for some working from home in the present pandemic circumstances. This post is a three-year contract. The position is based on a 5-day week (37 hours), exclusive of lunch hours.
The salary for this post is equivalent to a Grade VII, HSE scale at April 2017
