Contract Worker for the Yellow Flag Programme – Irish The Traveller Movement

Irish Traveller Movement (ITM) is a national Traveller organisation that promotes the recognition of Travellers as a nomadic ethnic group in Irish society.

The ITM’s Yellow Flag Programme is a progressive equality & diversity initiative for primary and secondary schools which promotes and supports an environment for interculturalism. For more information on Yellow Flag see www.yellowflag.ie

The Yellow Flag Programme is looking to contract a person who would be available to cover identified areas of work of the Yellow Flag Programme. The position would be for 2 days per week (14hrs) for 6 months starting as early as possible in January 2017 to June 2017

The Yellow Flag was pioneered by the Irish Traveller Movement as an intercultural innovative solution and would be an attractive and exciting piece of work for someone committed and passionate about work around Equality & Diversity & Intercultural Education.

The contract piece of work includes ensuring the successful implementation of key pieces of work over the 6 month period

The key areas of work would include;
Supporting 16 schools to implement the final steps of the programme. This would include; regular online/phone support and follow up; one to two visits to each school; co-ordination of assessment visits for May/June 2017.
Supporting continued engagement with all Yellow Flag schools through social media and online and phone support.
Following up and liaising with key government departments in relation to the Yellow Flag programme
Other
Provide financial and other reports to funders.
To support ongoing relationships, networking and lobbying with key stakeholders.

Person Specification
The successful candidate will be required to have previous experience of project co-ordination and management and have either a relevant qualification in e.g. Community Development; Equality & Human Rights; Intercultural Education and or min of three years working in the area. They will have relevant experience and an excellent understanding of and commitment to working on equality, diversity and youth issues.

S/he will be skilled in the following areas;
Highly motivated, committed & energised by work around Equality & Diversity, a self starter
Project planning, co-ordination and management and financial management
Excellent administrative, communication, IT and report writing skills including financial reporting
Ability to build relationships and work with a range of stakeholders including young people, parents and other individuals from diverse backgrounds; school personnel, NGO’s, Department officials, state agencies
Ability to engage and liaise effectively with potential and current funders, including ability to communicate key messages (both verbally & written) on the Yellow Flag programme.
Demonstrated experience in working in anti-racism and interculturalism.

Salary
Salary will be €44,314.40 on a pro rata basis for 2 days per week.
