Employment and Enterprise Advisor – Dublin South City Partnership

Key Responsibilities
(will include some of the following)
To work as part of a team in delivering the Employment and Enterprise work programme under SICAP to assist eligible clients to explore employment and self-employment options as a route out of unemployment.
To provide one-to-one support and guidance to unemployed adults with regard to education, training and employment opportunities.
To offer career direction and support to clients and tools to assist them with the job seeking process.
To assist clients to complete Personal Action Plan, business plan workbook, Revenue Registration form and relevant application forms.
To provide structured one to one and group support and guidance to unemployed adults at every stage of the BTWEA, STEA, enterprise start-up and development.
To assist in the provision of training and skills development programmes for SICAP clients.
To facilitate a number of employment and enterprise workshops.
To liaise with state agencies and community groups in the delivery of the work programme for unemployed people.
Administration duties including keeping the reporting system (IRIS) up-to-date, preparing reports and records for funders, the company and other bodies.
To work cooperatively with other staff, board and committees in meeting the objective of the SICAP programme.
To undertake, as requested, other relevant duties.

Person Specification
Significant prior experience in at least one of the following: provision of one to one support to unemployed adults in terms of employment and enterprise support; provision of individual and/or group based support and workshops; provision of advice and guidance to clients seeking employment or setting up their own business.
A relevant qualification in adult guidance, entrepreneurship, business management or a related discipline.
Experience of supporting hard to reach service users.
Experience of group and one to one interventions with clients.
An ability to work collaboratively with a range of state and community bodies
A clear understanding of how state agencies who deal with issues of unemployment and social exclusion operate and how they can be influenced
An ability to develop innovative responses to social exclusion problems
An ability to operate the required reporting systems (e.g. IRIS)
An ability to prepare reports and funding proposals for a variety of agencies
Personal/Professional Attributes
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and a capacity to work with a range of individuals and agencies
Ability to work to targets and to plan and prioritise work
A flexible approach in the work place with a capacity to work outside normal office hours
Understanding of issues and barriers that face unemployment people
Ability to work as part of a team
Skills in mobilising community resources for the benefit of the organisation and service users.
Note: In exceptional circumstances a candidate may be appointed who does not meet all of the above requirements
Reporting Relationships: The Employment and Enterprise Advisor reports to and is supervised by the Employment and Enterprise Manager
Terms and Conditions: 35 hours per week with some flexibility required regarding early morning and evening work.
