The Role
The successful candidate will:
Play a strong leadership role within the organisation to build upon recent successes and to ensure the ethos and values of Bridge are embodied throughout
Have overall responsibility for the day to day management of the Bridge Project, under the supervision of the Board.
Control the internal organisation and management of the project including the assignment of duties to members of staff
Liaise with all key stakeholders engaged in the J-ARC initiative, the Community Employment Scheme and the Back to Training and Education Initiative
Continue to actively maintain our relationships with existing partners and to foster the development of new ones
Generate and implement new training and employment initiatives, in line with our strategic goal, that aim to reduce recidivism rates of our clients and bring about sustainable change
Ensure our clients consistently receive the highest quality service available to them
Manage the organisation’s day to day income and expenditure, ensure all appropriate financial records are kept and provide the necessary financial information to the Board of Directors
Perform such duties as directed by the Board of Directors. This includes a commitment to flexibility and on-going change.
Under the direction of the Board, develop and implement the organisational policies, structures and procedures necessary to deliver the effective organisation of the service.
Build and manage a partnership approach with our core funders, the Probation Service and the CDETB to ensure their continued support and commitment as well as seeking the support of potential new funding streams
Ensure all organisational activities and staff performance is in line with the internal policies and procedures.
Ensure Governance requirements are adhered to such as the Governance Code and Charities Regulatory Authority
Carry out regular supervision and performance evaluation with staff members and take appropriate measures to address below par performance
Continue to support the use of our client management system (e-CASS) amongst staff
Attend bi-monthly Board meetings
Complete and present bi monthly reports to the Board of Management on programme activities, finances, new developments and areas requiring attention
Represent Bridge to key external organisations
Publicise and promote Bridge to the wider public as appropriate and as approved by the Board
In relation to Clean Slate the social enterprise operated by the Bridge Project, the Executive Manager will be responsible for the business development and management function of the enterprise
The Board may, at its discretion, require the Manager to undertake any duties it considers appropriate to their skills, training and abilities. This may include, where reasonable, areas other than those specified herein
Person specification
Third Level qualification in a relevant field e.g. Management, social work, social policy, addiction, community development, social enterprise, treatment, counselling.
Minimum three years’ experience in a managerial role within an organisation working with vulnerable adult target groups such as offenders, drug users, homeless.
A proven track record of developing and implementing new initiatives with clear outcomes
Understanding/experience of key-working and/or case management
Understanding/experience of social enterprises and other initiatives designed to increase the employability of offenders
Proficiency in using a client management system such as e-CASS – desirable
Excellent written and oral communication skills
High level of motivation and leadership skills to contribute to the overall vision and work ethos of Bridge
Knowledge of Social Policy and Criminal Justice system
Experience of dealing with statutory agencies
Knowledge /Experience of financial management and funding proposals
